Dylan’s Candy Ring

On Saturday June 11, 2011, Dylan Lauren walked down the aisle arm-in-arm with the silver-haired gentlemen who designed her wedding dress. The nine foot train and cascading ruffles were the work of the only man to ever receive the Council of Fashion Designers  of America’s four highest awards—The Lifetime Achievement Award, The Womenswear Designer of the Year Award,  The Menswear Designer of the Year Award and The Retailer of the Year Award.

His name is Ralph Lauren and every February he shows a collection of exquisite Fall styles in a runway show in Bryant Park. However, this Fall it’s not just his cocktail attire and sophisticated preppy garb that have people talking.

Dylan’s Candy Bar is the sugar mecca of the western, and probably the whole, world. And her June nuptials to Paul Arrouet showcased her role of candy queen in a way that only she and her design-master father could.

The details:

- The candy-hued Bridesmaid dresses were custom made Ralph Lauren cocktail dresses – each designed solely for the girl who would wear it down the aisle.

- The wedding cake, wrapped in fresh  blooms, had hand painted pictures of the bride and groom riding their tandem bicycle… a nod to Paul’s proposal in Montauk.

- Larger-than-life rabbit topiaries adorned the lawns of her parent’s estate, adding an Alice in Wonderland element to the day.

- Guests were seated with chocolate bar name cards, a Willy Wonka inspired morsel of the wedding’s candy theme.

- Vintagey candy jars, sculptures comprised of lollipops and penny candy, and sweet cocktails rounded out Dylan’s dream wedding day.
